Sherblom Notary Services, LLC is a knowledgeable Apostille Agent and is pleased to offer Apostille services across the United States, which are needed to certify several types of notarized documents being sent to foreign countries.

Common documents that need to be certified to be accepted in a foreign country:

  • Documents for international adoption

  • Diplomas issued by an American college or university

  • Various types of records and contracts integral to a company

  • Birth certificates if seeking citizenship in another country

  • Marriage certificate if seeking to have your marriage registered in another country

  • Divorce certificate if seeking to get remarried in another country

Apostille and/or Authentication certificates cannot be issued by any commissioned Notary Public in the United States. The certificates can only be issued by the respective state's Office of the Secretary of State or the United States Department of State, depending on the type of document requiring certification and which country the documents need to go to. Not all countries have the same procedures.

Sherblom Notary Services, LLC will ensure all paperwork is filled out and submitted with your documents to the applicable United States government office for certification and are then returned to you with the Apostille or Authentication certificate. This process can take several weeks or even months, in some cases, so please keep that in mind when requesting Apostille Agent services.

BIRTH CERTIFICATES

Birth certificates must have been certified within the previous 12 months. If the document was certified beyond 12 months ago, a new certified document will need to be issued by the applicable town/city office.

OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES

Documents notarized in a particular state can only be certified/authenticated by that state. Federal documents can only be certified/authenticated by the US Department of State. Sherblom Notary Services, LLC will determine the appropriate actions to take dependent on the requirements of the certifying agency.

Certifications and authentications can only be obtained for documents with an original signature. Your documents need to be notarized.

Translation services are not available. If your document is not in English, it will need to be translated to a new English document prior to submitting it to Sherblom Notary Services, LLC for Apostille certification.

Rest assured, you will be kept in the loop every step of the way. It is important to remember that the issuing of Apostille or Authentication certificates can only be completed by the Secretary of State or US Department of State offices, and the time to do this varies with each office. As soon as we learn something new about your situation, or when the process is complete, you will be notified.
